Baylor Earns 1st Team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, Renz 2nd Team

2015 May 19

Westyn Baylor was named to 1st Team ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region accolades in the outfield while Anthony Renz earned 2nd team honors at third base in voting conducted by regional head baseball coaches.

Baylor was one of the most feared hitters in the conference in 2015, leading the Mountaineers and ranking 13th in the PSAC with a .394 batting average. The senior led Mansfield in hits (56), home runs (10), RBIs (39), total bases (95) and slugging % (.669) and was second in runs (36).

Baylor strung together a 12-game hit streak that ended with an 0-4 outing against East Stroudsburg before putting together a career-best 15-game hit streak. Without the hitless game at ESU, Baylor would have set a new PSAC hit streak record at 28 games.

In his two seasons with Mansfield, Baylor hit .361 with 83 RBIs and 65 runs. He totaled 39 extra base hits with 19 doubles, 17 home runs and three triples.

Renz completes the all-region trifecta, being named 2nd team third base in the Daktronics D2SIDA, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and now ABCA/Rawlings polls.

A 1st Team All-PSAC East section, Renz posted a .357 batting average with 51 hits and 143 at bats through 40 starts on the season. He drove in 37 RBIs and scored 24 times while ranking ninth in the PSAC with 14 doubles. Renz was second on the team and 13th in the conference with eight home runs in 2015.

Renz is a career .304 batter with 101 RBIs and 19 home runs over four season with the Mountaineers.
