Evan Ruggles of Holidaysburg, PA will be a Junior member of the Mansfield University sprint football team for the upcoming 2014 season.

The Mountaineers open the season by hosting the University of Pennsylvania under the lights of Karl Van Norman Field on Saturday, September 20 as part of the Light Up Mansfield Again 2014 festivities. Mansfield hosts just its third home football game under the lights after inventing night football in 1892.

Saturday's game will be broadcast regionally on live television and streamed nationally on ESPN3.

Last year, Mansfield hosted its first night football game in 121 years in front of a crowd of more than 6,000 fans when the Mountaineers hosted Princeton.

The 2014 season marks Mansfield's seventh season as a full-time member of the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL). The CSFL is a varsity collegiate football league that operates under NCAA playing rules. The only exception is a 172 pound weight limit on players 48 hours prior to a contest.

The CSFL, founded in 1934, is celebrating its 80th season and is comprised, in addition to Mansfield, of Army, Cornell, Franklin Pierce, Navy, Pennsylvania, Post and Princeton.
