Delegation from Vietnamese university visits Mansfield University

Mansfield, PA (11/12/2019) — Mansfield University welcomed a delegation from Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam on Monday, Nov. 4.

The delegation members included Dr. Vo Huang Duy, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Vice President for International Relations; and Dr. Pham Van Huy, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology.

President and First Lady Patterson hosted the delegation at the President's on-campus residence. Discussions were held during dinner regarding possible collaborative opportunities between the two universities. In addition to the President and First Lady, the Mansfield team included Dr. John Ulrich, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Kathy Wright, Associate Provost and Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences; Dr. Josh Battin, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities; Dr. Jaesung Sim, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics and Computer and Information Science; and Dr. Brad Lint, English Professor and Mansfield's U.S./Asia Coordinator.

Ton Duc Thang University, with its main campus in Ho Chi Minh City, is the leading higher education institution in Vietnam, enrolling more than 20,000 students in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral-level programs.

During the visit, the delegates discussed the possibility of developing a direct exchange program, a dual degree transfer program, and/or short-term study abroad options. Also discussed was a possible relationship between the computer science programs at the two institutions. At the conclusion of the meeting, gifts were exchanged, and the Ton Duc Thang delegates toured Oak Residence Hall to see firsthand the high-quality living accommodations Mansfield University provides its students.
