Social Work Students Organize Professional Mixer

Mansfield, PA (04/08/2019) — Mansfield University Social Work Students held a Human Services Professional Mixer on Thursday, March 21st. Students were able to connect with alumni and professionals in the human services field. This event was held by students from Dr. Mary Daly's Community and Organizations course, the MU Career Center, and was sponsored by SGA.

In addition to event hosts participants of the event included 20 students from various majors, 4 professors, and 4 panelists. The professors that attended were Dr. Tiffany Welch and Dr. Mary Daly of the Social Work Department, Dr. Michele Whitecraft of Education and Special Education, and Professor Karen Crisp of Psychology. The professors were able to assist students in asking questions and making connections with the panelists. The amazing panelists of this event included Lori Seymour, Amanda Carson, Terry Drake, and Mary Jackson. The panelists come from various fields in the human services industry such as forensics, substance abuse/addiction, probation, and mental health fields.

The event offered students, faculty, and the professionals the chance to mingle, have dinner, and participate in a panel discussion. The students who attended the event became more aware of the various careers in the human services field and on what they wanted to pursue after graduation. They were also able to network with alumni and agencies in the local Mansfield Community.
